Fresh Eyes in Tommy’s Kitchen: The Maggie Beer Mentor Program in full swing.

We’re excited to share that Harbourside Port Stephens is taking part in the Trainer Mentor Program, run by the wonderful Maggie Beer Foundation. This incredible initiative pairs aged care kitchen teams with a qualified chef mentor to support the creation of flavourful, nutritious meals and enhance the overall dining experience for residents.
The program is free, delivered in-home, and fully tailored to our needs – helping us continually improve, meet regulatory standards, and most importantly, enhance the quality of life for our residents.
We began our journey with the Trainer Mentor Program in November 2024, and this week marked the second visit from a chef mentor representing the Maggie Beer Foundation. We were thrilled to welcome our new mentor Paul into Tommy’s kitchen to get a behind-the-scenes look at our daily operations. Tommy shared insights into how the kitchen runs and the meals we proudly serve each day.
Both Paul and Tommy agree – fresh eyes and a collaborative spirit can spark great new ideas, and even small changes can make a big difference!
We’re also proud to share that Harbourside Port Stephens recently achieved an A Rating from the NSW Government Food Authority in our March accreditation – a testament to the team’s dedication and high standards!
