At Harbourside Port Stephens, we are passionate about creating meaningful dining experiences for our residents — meals that are not only nutritious but also bring joy, comfort, and connection. Our partnership with the Maggie Beer Trainee Mentoring Program continues to play a vital role in this vision.
Recently, we were fortunate to welcome Chef Paul from the Maggie Beer Foundation, who joined forces with our own talented Chef Tommy and his dedicated team, including Kim, our Hotel Services Supervisor. Together, they worked closely with residents in a hands-on taste-testing session, trialling new sandwich and beverage options that are offered throughout the day.
The session was more than just sampling food — it was about giving residents a voice in shaping their daily dining experience. The feedback was overwhelmingly positive, with residents sharing thoughtful comments that will help us refine and adjust our menus to better suit their preferences.
This collaborative approach is at the heart of the Maggie Beer philosophy, which focuses on celebrating flavour, fresh ingredients, and the importance of mealtimes in aged care. For Harbourside, it’s another step forward in our commitment to delivering a dining program that is both high in quality and resident-centred.
A huge thank you goes to Chef Tommy and his team, whose enthusiasm and creativity are driving this project forward, and to our residents for their valuable input and participation.
We are proud of the progress so and proud to be only a few months off completing this 12 month journey with the Maggie Beer Trainee Mentoring Program.
