Harbourside CEO Appeal for Nepal Raises Around $16,000 for Nepal Flood Relief

A celebration of culture, community and generosity has helped Harbourside Port Stephens raise approximately $16,000 to support communities affected by the devastating floods in Nepal.

Harbourside CEO Appeal for Nepal formed part of Harbourside’s Multicultural Day celebrations, bringing together staff, Residential Care residents and Retirement Living residents for a day that celebrated the many cultures represented across the Harbourside community.

Funds were raised through generous donations from staff, residents and suppliers, ticket sales for a Nepalese fundraising luncheon and a mega raffle featuring approximately $6,000 worth of prizes donated by Harbourside suppliers.

Harbourside was also proud to contribute $3,000 towards the approximately $16,000 total, with funds going to the Nepal Prime Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund.

A Taste of Nepal

One of the highlights of the day was a special Nepalese-inspired luncheon attended by Harbourside Retirement Living residents.

Harbourside Chef Jaya created a three-course menu inspired by his Nepalese culture, giving guests the opportunity to enjoy the flavours and traditions of Nepal while supporting an important cause.

The afternoon became even more colourful when members of Harbourside’s Nepalese team performed a traditional cultural dance dressed in their impressive cultural costumes.

The performance was warmly received, with guests clapping and cheering as the team shared an important part of their culture.

Celebrations Across Harbourside

The celebrations weren’t limited to the luncheon.

Harbourside staff joined in Multicultural Day with a catered lunch featuring curry and pavlova, while Residential Care residents were treated to their own special performance from the Nepalese dancers.

For some residents, watching wasn’t enough. With encouragement and guidance from staff, residents joined the dancers, giving them the opportunity to participate and experience Nepalese culture first-hand.

It was a special moment that captured what the day was all about – sharing culture, connecting with one another and celebrating the diversity of the Harbourside community.

Harbourside has long embraced the many cultures represented among its staff, residents and clients, and throughout Multicultural Day that community spirit could be felt across the organisation.

An Incredible Community Effort

The approximately $16,000 fundraising result was made possible through the generosity of the entire Harbourside community – from those who donated and purchased raffle tickets to the Retirement Living residents who attended the luncheon and the suppliers who generously contributed prizes and donations.

Thank you also to our staff, residents and Retirement Living community for embracing the day and contributing so generously.

What began as a Multicultural Day celebration became something even more meaningful – an opportunity to celebrate the cultures within Harbourside while coming together to support communities in Nepal during a time of great need.

It was a truly remarkable day and a wonderful demonstration of the generosity, compassion and community spirit that exists across Harbourside.
